Tuesdays and Thursdays | 1.30-4.00 p.m.

In addition to our HANDWORK exhibition, the museum also has a special HANDWORKSHOP where you can have a go at making something under the supervision of our HANDWORKERS. They will explain and demonstrate the craft techniques employed in Zeeland’s regional costume and carpentry. Then it’s time for you to get your hands dirty!

instructions

Learn leather pleating, smocking, how to embroider an Axel bodice or get behind a sewing machine. Or learn how to fold a cap from Zuid-Beveland. There is a paper pattern of this world-famous headpiece in the HANDWORKSHOP, for use by children or adults. You can download the pattern and the instructions here. The HANDWORKERS in the workshop will be happy to teach you how to fold the cap. Or try your hand at carpentry. There are games or you can make a small work from wood.
